600 children received assistance last year to attend our After School Care, Summer Day Camp, and Youth Sport Programs.

600 kids participated in Y programs last year, enabling them to learn sportsmanship, teamwork, and build lasting friendships.

Since 2010, over $300,00 has been awarded in scholarships and subsidies to youth and families in the Richmond community.

“My husband was laid off and has to take ANY part time job to help cover our bills. I work, but we’re struggling to make ends meet and childcare is a big expense for our family. We were so relieved to learn that the Y has financial assistance. I really don’t know what my family would do without the Y. Not only are the counselors the best, but I really feel like they care about my little girls and our situation. They LISTEN!” ~ Oliva B.

FOR YOUTH DEVELOPMENT

At the Richmond Family YMCA, we inspire academic achievement by helping to prevent summer learning loss and to shrink the growing achievement gap.

Children involved in the YMCA’s summer academic enrichment programs increased their story fluency by 17.8% – helping to combat summer learning loss.

Over the summer months, youth involved in the YMCA summer day camp program increased their literacy accuracy by 1.3% – ensuring a strong start to the school year.

100% of the YMCA youth involved in the summer educational achievement program had an increase to their overall reading level – allowing teachers to begin the year teaching, not reviewing.

FOR HEALTHY LIVING

At the Y, we’re building a healthier future. The Richmond Family YMCA is combating the growing childhood obesity epidemic. Kids involved in YMCA youth sports are becoming healthier – and the more often they’re involved, the healthier they’re becoming!

Who knew being healthy could be so much fun!
